A tiny offering of wines from Claude Dugat

The wines of Domaine Dugat have been captivating collectors for decades. Even when I first came accross his wines in the late 80’s the wines were expensive and ultra rare. I remember opening the first bottle of 1990 Dugat Griottes Chambertin and thinking ‘if they made a perfume that smelled like this I would fall in love with anyone who wore it. I think it was the first time I thought it would be really innovative to make perfumes that smelled like great wine!

Back to Dugat - his family have been making wine in Gevrey since the early 19th Cenutry. The family farms about 10 acres of vineyards spread between some of the most famous vineyards: Lavaux St. Jacques, Charmes Chambertin, Chapelle Chambertin and Griottes Chambertin. Since 2013 the vineyards have been converted to organic farming and the style of the wines remain cemented in classic tradition - restrained extraction and tempered oak, a style that strikes a keen balance between power and finesse with a transparency that allows the terroir to show through.

Because I have taken up my allocation every year I still receive a few bottles at every vintage. This year I have been allocated:

2016 Gevrey-Chambertin - 3 bottles. Price $145

2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru - 3 bottles $265
